We car-pooled our way to A Coruna from Oviedo with a group of friendly travellers. I had planned to provide in- car entertainment to break the ice and enhance the journey, however my first rendition of “On the road again” was cut short by a proverbial elbow to the ribs. We arrived, dumped our rucksacks and headed for the marina.

My pilgrimage to La Coruna complete, we wandered the town, ate some delicious octopus in the magnificent Plaza de maria pita maria then embarked on an ambitious march to see the oldest lighthouse in the entire world! On the way we passed kayakers competing on the beautiful beach (technically on the water). The tower of Hercules was impressive and so was our hike to get there. Satisfied, we continued onward to Santiago De Compostela, checked into our hotel and enjoyed a lovely local beer and a bite before retiring for the night, tired but happy.
