I started the day breakfast and a bit of shirt ironing then went over my duties as toastmaster for the day. Katrine departed to get her makeup and drinking done with the bride and co. and I took myself out to the balcony with my laptop when the maid arrived. When she left I discovered she’d locked me out on the terrace!
I didn’t have my phone with me, it was too far to jump and even my best “Mae Geri” wasn’t going to budge the terrace door. Weighing my options (and climbing skills) I emailed the hotel reception and Katrine for good measure from my mac, which I thankfully had with me., telling of my plight… I was rescued in short order by an apologetic maid.
Drama over I put the finishing touches to my outfit and hit the gym to help get the blood flowing and synapses firing. After a sweaty session I hit the shower, got dressed and made my way to the venue.
What a wonderful ceremony. The vows were particularly touching and the setting very romantic. and the hits just kept on coming. The dinner and speeches were wonderful, not a dry eye in the house and I did my best to add a little sparkle as toastmaster.
We partied with the happy couple til the wee hours, drinking, dancing, snacking/rinse and repeat until spent, we wandered home through the magical early morning streets to our hotel, mesmerised by the whole thing and feeling thankful to be witness to such a romantic interlude.
