West Highland Way – here we come

We drove to Milngavie (pronounced Milgay, because…Scottish people) and left the car there in an overfilled railway station parking lot. Milngavie is the starting point of the West Highland Walk, our goal for the next 8 days. The first few days the height profile looks quite flat, so we were hoping for an easy start. It kind of was and kind of wasn’t. It was flat, but it was also long. Lots of greenery and sheep along the way the first day. We arrived in Drymen at the Kip in the Kirk pictured here. It’s an old church turned hostel. Very well kept, tidy and clean and spacious. We had a beer/cider at the drymen pub and then dinner at the village square at the Clachan inn. Finally a meal that wasn’t deep fried or meaty. I needed an early night after the long walk and easily dosed off once we were back at our bunk room.
