After many days of inactivity we went to Rjukan to visit Vemork, the power station where the heavy water sabotage operation Gunnarside took place in 1943 to prevent Hitler from getting hold of heavy water to develop a A-bomb. A great place with a well made museum with lots of experiences to learn from. You even get to go down into the newly discovered heavy water basement where the actual detonation took place to destroy production and “be part” of it. It’s also possible to walk part of the hike the saboteurs took, but rain and hunger stopped us (luckily, it didn’t stop them).
