The morning started with a hearty breakfast at Joe’s cafe across from our hotel. Our waitress told us about First Thursday, which is an event where bands and art galleries and other groups come together and have a party in the streets of Santa Barbara. Her dance group was doing a flash mob so we decided to got there later. But first I got my cat fix in. A beautiful foster home for cats that have been rescued and are up for adoption. It welcomes visitors in exchange for support to the cats. We spent an hour playing and cuddling with a dozen or more cats (well, I did, while Terry was on his laptop most of the time making use of the free wifi). It’s so true that no time spent with cats is ever wasted. Just around the corner was the court house. An architectural wonder where we were lucky enough to tag along on the tour that had just started. Views as far as the eye could see from the bell tower at the top. And plenty of weddings going on. (But they don’t do divorces!) We kept wandering the streets in antique shops, wineries, restaurants and cafes. Terry went for a haircut while I had my nails done. We tried to see if the First Thursday events were kicking off yet and sat down at a street side restaurant called Satellite. Just in time. We got a great table right in front of Brett Hunter and the Stu (participated in the Voice) who played the rest of the evening. And then our waitress and he dance troupe showed up! Lots of dancing in the streets, young and old, and none of them were even drunk or insane. After we finished our cheese plate and beer and wine, we even did a fee twirls before going back to the hotel. (Well, not straight back, we stopped by Marshall’s and bought some things. Terry exclaimed that it was just like TK Maxx).
