We started the day with a simple breakfast at home then made for downtown Honolulu and our walking tour where we heard about the early days of Honolulu including the origins of surfing and the ‘Duke’ a local surfing legend and ambassador of Hawaii.

We also sampled some of the grand hotels frequented by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe back in the day. Oh, and I found mint ice cream. Yummy.

We dipped our toes in the Pacific and grabbed a coffee before heading back via a few shopping stops. 

We rounded the evening off with some home made dinner and an episode of Band of Brothers before an early night.
