Hanauma national park.

After a 90 minute bus ride and a 30 minute walk we checked into Hanauma national park. After a short wait we received a lecture and watched a short film on the history and preservation of the park then we’re finally allowed entry.

The gorgeous bay proved to be well worth the wait and the pre-booked entry system ensured that the beach or sea never felt crowded.

The snorkeling was first rate and the beach, postcard perfect, we spent almost the entire day in the water, which, despite the damaged coral was teeming with life. We saw huge parrotfish and shaols of fish.

Halfway through the day a monk seal planted itself on the beach for a siesta. We felt lucky to see this endangered species up close.

The beach itself was absolutely gorgeous, palm trees swayed in the wind as we ate our lunch, consisting of sandwiches and Katrine’s favourite drink, Capri-Sun.

We reluctantly left our little slice of paradise when they closed the beach then made for our bus home.

In the evening we headed for Waiki beach to spent our last night here sipping cocktails in the sunset before  watching fireworks burst over the Pacific. Pretty bloomin awesome.
