A full day at the resort. I wasn’t going to set a toe outside the resort but make everything out of what was offered right here. I managed to get Terry up early to join me for yoga class on the beach. With the view and sound of the ocean it was easy to find stillness and calm. The rest of the day was spent by the poolside with a little break to try snorkeling, but as the cabana guy said: “it’s like swimming through Crest toothpaste”. We saw more from the shore than under water, which included a turtle frolicking about! Some culture was also appropriate and we took the short hike (that’s what they call it – it was a short stroll in a gnarly forest) to see the Pekua petroglyphs. These are very similar to the “helleristninger” we have in Norway, but much more recent and less researched. Back in our hotel room it was time to get ready for dinner at Brown’s Beach House. But what was this? A fruit plate with pineapple, strawberries, papaya, coconut and more! With a little note congratulating us on our anniversary. However, it’s not our anniversary and neither of us had mentioned any special occasion to the hotel. I guess either they got it wrong or they only had anniversary cards to go with their complimentary fruit plates… At dinner, we had front view seats of the sunset and the entertainment from Kaai and company who played guitar and sang both Hawaiian songs and well known ballads for the guests. As we had our duck breast and seafood mix I made a friend. A curious kitten came by for cuddles and a snack. Mostly for snacks. There were cats walking about yesterday but they were all so skittish. This guy was purring and loved a little chin rub. It was the perfect end to my evening. Although Terry may have felt a little neglected since he has to play second fiddle whenever a cat shows up, I think he enjoyed the evening just as much as I did.
