We arrived in Rome on the 28th and checked into our reasonably priced hotel next to the train station before turning in for the night. The next day after a nice breakfast in a nearby cafe was a whirlwind tour of Rome, hop on, hop off style. We did all the big hits, including the Colosseum, fountain, steps etc. etc. The highlight of the day was the gelato we found late evening at an unassuming little ice cream parlour. It was incredible and even I, who usually only partake in the mint variety of ice cream was impressed. Italy was nice, but we both knew why we were here and we could feel the excitement rising as our departure day loomed and then before we knew it the 29th was here and we were on our way to Civittavecchia Port and or floating home for the next 40 days. Woop.
