Phuket, Thailand

Getting off the ship today took quite a while, and has been the only downside of this cruise – that immigration into and out of ports has sometimes taken much longer than anticipated. We were tendered today too, which means we had to wait for shuttle boats to get us to the beach and back. However, when we got to Patong beach, all was good. Markets galore and fake brands and salesmen giving you their “special prices”. We had some noodle soup and the Thai speciality mango sticky rice. Delicious. We had booked a massage (again) at the end of the day, and I’m glad we did our research because along the streets were massage parlors with masseuses sitting outside with deep cleavages and all dolled up waving (mainly men) in for a rub down, and half of the workers probably weren’t women, but it was awfully hard to tell. Luckily our salon was proper with a “no sex” sign in the corner, and served us tea and offered a peaceful and fragrant room and massage.

And we had Thanksgiving turkey and ham dinner on board tonight! Christmas is right around the corner.
