Monkeys and temples in Bali

We reached Bali, another large center for yoga and Hinduism. We took a taxi from the port to Ubud. It took an hour and a half due to all the traffic, but cost us no more than 100 kr, so we thought he deserved a decent tip after getting us through that traffic jam. After all, we wouldn’t even have gotten on the train to Sandnes for that amount at home.

The place we wanted to see was the Monkey forest, a sanctuary where monkeys roam freely among temples and forests. They were everywhere, and if you brought anything edible (there were warning signs not to), they would find it. But they were otherwise harmless and left you if you left them alone. Such interesting creatures, I could watch them all day. I helped this little gal out when she couldn’t figure out the water faucet. Adorable.

No water?
Yay, water!

Once we’d seen as many monkeys as possible we strolled through the markets and had dinner at Clear cafe, the same place I had visited five years ago on a yoga retreat in Bali. It was likely the healthiest food we’d had since the cruise started. Ahem.
