We checked in to Thorskog slott outside Gothenburg. Absolutely gorgeous fairy tale place. We have two memorable nights to look forward to here. Shortly after checking in to our room, we were treated to a half bottle of champagne and chocolates on the door. But they had to wait, because afternoon tea was waiting for us downstairs.

The tea had lovely little sandwiches, scones and a myriad of cakes. And tea, of course. And champagne. The only thing both of us missed was clotted cream. Even regular whipped cream would have been alright. Oh well, can’t win them all.

Before dinner there was a talk about the castle history by the owners and staff, accompanied by a glass of champagne.

Dinner followed at a table with other couples, and both the food and wine was excellent. Naturally, there was champagne here too. It is the New Years weekend after all.
