The hotel offered a free taxi to Kovalam, the closest town. The catch was of course that we had to stop by the Fabindia shop. I went in with the intention of not buying anything, but that was easier said than done. I found a bright pink dress and ear rings and bought a shirt for Terry as well.
Down at the beach we ambulated along and saw the light house in the distance while browsing the tourist shops. Kashmir blankets and scarves, Shiva and Ganesh statues galore, and regular food and ice cream. We realized after we left that we hadn’t even been tempted by the food… maybe eating healthy is easy when it’s a habit (and someone else prepares, serves, and cleans up)?
I got into a little tiff with a shop owner when it turned out we didn’t have enough cash for his singing bowl, and I wasn’t willing to use the money exchange next door. Good thing though, as you will see tomorrow…
