Kielland 175 years

Another day of literature and lectures starting with a talk on the Norwegian author Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. It was held by one of the professors I had during my Nordic literature study at the University of Bergen last year, which was what drew my attention.

He was also part of a debate in the evening along with three other authors and literature critics discussing the novels by Kielland and particularly their newest modernization. I met a sweet and friendly lady next to me who also had no idea where this bar was until today. She said she was part of a reading circle which made me think that that is really something I should check out too. I love discussing books I’ve read along with some wine and/or cheese. It’s something I really miss from the Nordic literature studies. Any suggestions are welcome!

After the debate a band/performance was on stage. It was weird to say the least. Absolutely bizarre. They were introduced with “there will be a short concert soon, and we say ‘concert’ because if we say ‘performance’ people will just leave”. I now understand why.
