Our first day without any big plans. The sun was out and there was a slight breeze, so after a big Japanese set breakfast including Okinawa doughnuts, we sat on the beach for a while. The weather wasn’t quite warm enough for swimming but the sun was hot enough to leave our skin a slight pink.

A little to the south is the American village, close to the military base. We went to see what the fuss was about. Quite the place. Brightly colored buildings in strange shapes and American brands dotting the streets. We sat down at the atmospheric boardwalk to have our onigiri (Japanese seaweed sandwich) and watch the sunset. Before catching the bus back, Terry managed to snatch a 100% Kona coffee, remembering how good it was when we visited Hawaii. The vibe in the American village and in our hotel is very reminiscent of Hawaii in general. That same island feeling.
