Red eyes, dry skin

Today was mostly a haze from beginning to end. We landed with the red eye flight and I fully understand the meaning of that now. After a few hours of sleep on the flight my eyes were so tired and my skin so tight and dry and I was freezing. It felt as if my skin was a few sides too small. LA was “only” 18 degrees and it was early, early morning. We paid blood price for a bagel we had to spread cream cheese on ourselves before getting an Uber that had increased drastically in price by the time we’d eaten our bagels. It dropped us off at the UPS store where we would store our luggage, but the store had moved. Yay. This day just kept getting better. Lugging our suitcases 3 blocks, the UPS attended only found it amusing that their address had been wrong. We took the bus to the Westfield shopping mall where I finally felt a little better. Retail therapy. Panda Express to the rescue. We couldn’t be bothered with healthy food. We needed hangover food. Even though we didn’t have a hangover, it felt like one. Later in the afternoon, we could check in to our speakeasy hostel, the Rosemary. A gorgeous place that exceeded all expectations! Nondescript from the outside and like a movie set on the inside with velvet red wallpaper, porcelain cats, skulls and photos of topless women of the ‘20’s. Eclectic is an understatement. We had a nightcap in the private bar before an early night. Head on pillow and sleep.
