The Celebrity Edge arrived in Australia for the first time ever. And what a welcome… We were woken up minutes before sunrise after 4,5 hours of sleep by what sounded like an entire welcome parade. It turned out to be a lone drummer and didgeridoo duo with a massive speaker right on the pier. They went on for a good ten minutes or so before packing up but there had been ample time for the entire ship to wake up.

Hours later we managed to get up and went to Crocosaurus cove, the largest collection of Australian reptiles. One of them was the movie star, Burt, from Crocodile Dundee. He is 700 kg and 80 years old and still a bachelor because he’s attacked every female that has tried to mate with him…

Back at the ship we were so happy to see the crew out with cold, wet towels and water. The heat has been intense with temperature up to 36 degC and humidity in the 70’s. In fact, we had quite a scare at the reptile park when a man suddenly had a heat stroke with cramps and needed emergency care. Luckily a nurse was visiting too and came to the rescue, got him down on the floor and others helped get wet and cold towels while someone called an ambulance. I hope all went well.
