We started the day by visiting Tjuijiki fish market and sampling teas, dashi, all manner of seafood and Japanese culinary curiosities. I bought myself some delicious smoked, cured squid and we got some dashi to take home as well as a few light seafood bites and a huge oyster.

We also popped by John Lennons favourite coffee shop, which beyond the alleged patronage of Mr.Lennon was a bit meh, coffee wise. Not that I’m complaining about Japanese coffee. It’s been mostly fabulous.

After the market we made for Odaiba island and the Joypolis Arcade where we jumped on a few rides, shot some zombies and got the crap scared out of us in the dark… twice.

I loved the toilet where I played an arcade game while peeing at the target in the urinal. Bonkers. After wed had enough of half pipes, roller coasters and jets we wandered off to find the unicorn Gundam, which was impressive.

Our busy day continued with az visit to an amazing interactive art gallery. Teamlabs planets was a barefoot exploration of art, sound, smells and sensation.

We waded through water, cambered over squishy ground, navigated lED and flower forests and chased AI powered coi fish around, all bare footed. Very cool.

Our evening meal was our first direct-to-diner sushi bar, where plates and the occasional train delivered sushi and sake yo it’s patrons. The good was meh, but the experience was great.

We’re starting to realise that a week is not even enough to scratch the surface of what Tokyo has going on. Loving it.
