Sake for breakfast then onward to Kyoto

After another delicious japanese breakfast (I asked our waitress what she had for breakfast that day and she replied toast, so maybe not everyone has quite the same start to their day) we headed out to explore the o K d town and visit the sake brewery’s we didn’t have time yo visit the previous day.

I broke my 12 o’clock drinking curfew in the pursuit of cultural exploration and immersed myself in further exploration of the world of sake. More sake was sampled and purchased and we zig-zagged happily back to our hotel and onward to Kyoto… Which I only just very recently realised is an anagram of Tokyo. Ahem. More interestingly it was the original capital city of Japan and narrowly missed being the chosen target for the first atomic bomb that would bring the war in the Pacific to a horrifying end.

We checked into our hotel, instantly disappointed with the beds not being mattresses on the floor and ventured out to explore the Geisha region and catch a show.

We experienced a little taste of the entertainment arts, including flower arranging, Koto playing, tea ceremony, dance and my personal favourite a slapstick bit involving sake stealing servants. The show was short but fun and we managed to get a picture with some Meiko (Geisha apprentices).

We selected a cheerful wee place for our dinner of Soba noodles and struggled through the Japanese menu before ordering. To our surprise we managed to order cold noodles instead of hot… Still tasty, but not quite what we were expecting.
