We took a train tide to Arashiyama and the pleasant bamboo forest, a lovely garden and even more shrines/temples… They are lovely, but I find myself walking faster through and sometimes, despite myself, past them. I think I might be coming down with a case of temple/shrine fatigue.

Our next stop of the day was Nara, we came for the bowing deer. They bow to tourists in exchange for snacks.

It was bonkers. But Katrine loved it.
To cure our shrine/temple fatigue we visited a temple housing a massive 15 metre bhudda. I no longer felt fatigued.

On our way back we tracked down our first taste of okonomiyaki, a hot plate, self prepared mixture of egg and noodles topped with pork, seafood and lots besides, it’s a kind of Japanese pizza. It was delicious and very filling.

To round of the day we visited the 5000 gate temple, Fushimi Inari, at night, it was absolutely gorgeous, putting to rest any glimmer of that aforementioned cultural fatigue. Beautiful.
