We high-taiked it to the lorcal theatre yo try to get early tickets for a show and we’re in luck, making it by the skin of our teeth.
Kabuki is a form of Japanese theater that’s been around since the 17th century and is recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. It features elaborate costumes and makeup, and over-the-top acting. So it was right up my alley.
We watched a comic-tragedy that Shakespeare would probably have related too, it was great and we wished we could have seen more, but we’d opted for the one act for foreigners ticket, and had other plans.
We wandered on through the beautiful street and alleys of Kyoto to our next stop, a tea ceremony. There was a ceremony. We drank tea. It was nice.
After that I bought a very cool Godzilla T-shirt. Cause it was awesome. Then we picked up so sake cops and a jug. We’d decided that Japan would a place we would shop for souvenirs and other tat, and we were off to a good start.
Next off we visited the ‘Naked’ illuminations and enjoyed the light show before eating more lovely Japanese food. Another busy day.
