Itsukushima shrine is a very cool shrine situated on the shores of Miyojima island. At high tide it appears to float in the water and is quite beautiful. We arrived as the tide left so, besides the view from the ferry, never got to see the illusion up close.

On our way to the ferry we sampled the local maple leaf shaped sweets which were yummy.

On the Island itself we hiked up mount misen and we’re treated to some great views. said hello to some friendly deer and Katrine sampled oysters, a local delicacy took the cable car down as Katrine was lucky enough to find a free ticket.

Before we caught the ferry back we found a fantastic little coffee shop and had a great time chatting with the locals.
