The day started with the Santa Lucia funicular in Viana do Castelo. Beautiful views of the town. We tried Francesinha for brunch, a typical sandwich for Portugal with layers of toast, meat, cheese, topped with an egg and an abundance of sauce. The kind of thing that makes your arteries scream. Terry had a gentlemen’s haircut and razor blade shave. It’s the first barbers I’ve seen that serves port with the haircut! Arriving in Porto in the evening, we visited the “most beautiful bookshop in the world” that supposedly inspired the Harry Potter stories. The staircase does really feel like it’s straight out of Hogwarts. We had dinner at a great little restaurant that my sister in law recommended: The Door. (Any tip from her is bound to be good). It was fantastic! 11/10. We stayed the night at a cute little hotel, Residencia, that felt just like visiting grandma’s.
