The Secret Garden and Caledonian Sleeper

We spent the morning exploring a beautiful private garden which helped redeem our mediocre hotel. What an enchanting place. We enjoyed a simple breakfast on one of the idyllic benches, surrounded by fauna and greenery of all sorts. Magical.

Our day continued with a visit to the largest cinema screen in the UK to watch Tom Cruise save the world (and run really fast) again. It was a blast. Katrine didn’t think so, falling asleep halfway through (only a quick timed nudge saving our neighbours from her snoring).

Can’t quite figure out how she can have trouble sleeping in a dark, completely silent room but an over the top action movie send her off pronto. Aaah the mystery that is Katrine.

Anyhoo, the film was popcorntastic nonsense, quite a bit shot on location in Norway and featuring the Orient Express. Seems like trains are a theme right now, especially as our onward journey was on board the Caledonian Sleeper to Scotland for a quick visit with family.

The Train was great fun. I wandered the narrow corridors humming the Mission Impossible theme tune while on the lookout for international terrorists to take out. Unhappily there were none, so we ended the night chugging along and watching the season finale of “From” with a wee dram.
