We started our morning on the waters of Loch Morlich accompanied by the occasional curious duck. We kayaked on the lovely, wind free loch and although the sun didn’t show up the rain was thankfully absent and the beach was lovely.

After our watery adventure we headed towards the Idle of Skye and visited the beautiful Eilean Donnan Castle where iconic scenes from one of my favourite “Scottish” movies, Highlander, were filmed. Very cool. The castle was beautiful and romantic and well worth the stop.

We continued on to the Isle of Skye and our youth hostel (and cute bed names) and discovered a nearby pub called the King Haakon. Obviously a few remnants of the Viking marauders are still alive and well here. I’m looking forward to seeing the island.
